73,000 Chevy Cobalts Affected by Latest Recall

General Motors (GM) recently announced a recall for about 79,000 Chevy Cobalt cars from 2010 in the US and Canada. This move was due to faulty wiring that might prevent the driver’s side airbag on the roof from deploying during a crash. In crashes caused by these vehicles’ faulty ignition switches, at least 124 people lost their lives, and 274 others were injured, according to GM’s compensation fund. Families of the victims are being offered at least $1 million each in compensation. Previously, GM recalled 2.6 million cars of the same model last year, admitting they had known about the switch issues for more than ten years.
