Fitness Enthusiast’s Weekend Challenge
We work really hard to stick to our fitness and nutrition routines during the week, but when the weekend rolls around, it often falls apart. Not having a plan for the weekend can make it tough to stay on track with our fitness goals. We need to stay focused and tackle the weekend head-on to keep moving forward. Here are some tips to help you stay on track with your fitness goals during the weekend.
Just like you plan your meals for the week, have a few ready-made meals for the weekend. This way, if you get bored or hungry, you have a quick, healthy, and tasty option available.
Since you typically have more free time on weekends, schedule a workout. These can be some of your best workouts because you can dedicate more time and really push yourself, whether at the gym or at home.
Be realistic about your weekend. You’re probably going to indulge a bit in your diet, and that’s okay! Enjoy your weekend but don’t go overboard.
Stay active. If you can’t get to the gym, find other ways to move. Get outside with your kids for a game of touch football, rake leaves, or knock out some items on your to-do list. The important thing is to get moving.
After a hike or some other strenuous activity, a cold drink might sound great. But remember, alcohol is full of empty calories that can quickly add up. Drink in moderation if you choose to have some.
Having a couple of protein shakes over the weekend can be a great quick snack or even work as a meal replacement if you’re really busy. Add some fruit for an extra boost.
Stay hydrated. It’s easy to forget to drink enough water when you’re out of your weekday routine, but keep up the habit of drinking your eight glasses a day (or whatever your goal is).
Lastly, and most importantly, make sure to relax and get enough sleep. If you don’t make healthy living enjoyable and manageable, you won’t stick with your nutrition and exercise routines.
Keep yourself healthy, both mentally and physically, and enjoy your weekends while staying active. You’ve got this, weekend workout warrior!
