Ancient Underwater Fortune Valued at $17 Billion Found

The Galleon San Jose, often referred to as the ‘Holy Grail of Shipwrecks,’ has been found in Colombia. President Juan Manuel Santos announced that this Spanish galleon, which sank more than three hundred years ago, was discovered near the Caribbean port city of Cartagena. Remarkably, the ship was loaded with a treasure trove of gold, silver, precious stones, and valuable jewelry estimated to be worth about $17 billion. In a press conference, Santos shared plans to establish a museum to showcase the artifacts that are recovered. To date, sonar images have revealed cannons, weapons, pottery, and other historical items, as reported by Reuters.
